Does anybody know where this is? I've heard that this is somewhere in the magazines, but i have no clue where. ALSO, does anybody know where (or even if) the Watchtower ever fed off the idea that we only use a fraction of our brains, an idea that has proven to be false? I heard so many people talk about this in discussion, but have been unable to locate it in a publication. Thanks

I agree. Humans are shellfish by nature, it's in their jeans.

JW's poor attitude to medical staff
by Clam ini left the dubs a long time ago, so having been fully deprogrammed i can't always see stuff from the jw perspective.
at my father's funeral a couple of years ago my jw sister chose to give my wife a short sharp lecture about the wickedness of her profession.
my wife is a midwife.

To put it in the most simple form, I think JW's (including the HLC) put themselves in the position of superiority because it helps prove the point that they are correct and everybody else is wrong. Instead of really looking at the issues at hand, they instead generalize everything to the point where they are simply giving themselves a pat on the back.

Double Lives
by Honesty in.
does the watchtower society's rules and regulations promote healthy spiritual attitudes or do they have the opposite result?.
the reason i ask is because it seems as if many jw's i know are leading dual lives.. one life around jw friends and family and another hidden life when they are in places and situations where other jw's don't see them.

More than anything i think it is the shame that causes many to lead the "doubble life". Shame of simply doing what they choose to do, instead of what they are simply told to do. They simply can't reconcile things in their minds and so decide to hide who they are. I feel bad for such ones who become torn between themselves and organization, mainly because it seems like organization almost allways wins.

It's been said in the previous posts, but I will say it again because it's my opinion as well. Going to another religion simply dosen't solve any problems or resove any issues. The Watchtower has points with some of its arguements other religions have points with theirs. Neither makes them "true" religion, mainly because each succoms to the same vices. Man made religious structures eventually come to serve only one purpose and that is themselves. They may start out with grander goals, and even appear to keep them as time goes on, but in the end they become wraped up in self preservation of the group and not in preservation of truth.
Take your time, think for yourself on the issues and don't feel the need to join anybodys group. If you still wish to be a Christian, I agree that you should go to Christ and not some religious oranization.
I wish you the best. -

what music are you thinking about that would have been more appropriate?

That's good stuff. I allways liked to hear those overdone recordings. They made it sound so... theocratic.

True Believers
by XBEHERE inwhat percentage of jws today do you think actually still believe all of the doctrines and are trying hard to stick with it because they feel its the truth?
compare this to individuals such as myself who go so as not to arouse suspicion from their families or acquaintances in the cong.
but really do not believe it anymore.

There are two catagories for most Witnesses:
1. Those that still believe and act upon it.
2. THose that still believe, but are uneffected by it.
It seems to me that even people who stop going to the hall still deep down believe it is the "truth". They have simply let other things divert their attention from the Kingdom Hall, but that dosn't mean they have stopped believing.
I have known TO MANY people who float around, miss meetings, report low service time, basically show all the signs that they really don't have a "solid grip" in the organization. These same people though will NEVER EVER EVER question if it is the truth. They go around floating away, but never can let go in their minds.
I actually heard one guy say that during a peroid of around 10-15 years he was away from the hall that "the truth haunts you everywhere you go". These people are so well trained not to question the organization, they simply can't get over it. -

If Christians are 1/3 of the world's population....
by joelbear in.
then why do we have homeless people, millions starving, millions others living in poverty.
seems like a mighty ineffective 2 billion believers.

I really don't think that what the majority of Christians are doing on this earth means anything. Remember that the NT clearly states in many differant ways that those who would actually be affected and follow Christ would be few. To me, such suppositions don't really "prove" if one form of worship is failing or not. It simply dosn't hold up as an arguement.

Why am I not bitter?
by DannyBloem inmany people on this board seems to be a bit bitter and angry.
many do feel a form of hate towards the gb or even witnesses in general.. i do understand that many feel this way, some have all rigths to be bitter.. wy do i not feel like that?

Sometimes I get frustrated, but I really don't consider myself bitter. I feel for those who are stuck in a place where bitterness toward the Watchtower overtakes them. I have come to realize that if I hadn't expierance what I did with the Jehovahs Witnesses I more than likely whould have expieranced it in another religion. The expierance I have gained from being a member of this organized religion has taught me alot. I'm just glad I have come to such conclusion early on in my life. I can understand those that have come to them much later in life, it must be very hard for them.

On the CD's I have there is a PDF file for each year, kind of like a bound volume. The pages are scanned, but are also fully searchable. I thought about building a big collection, then doing the scanning and all that stuff, but I saw that it was allready done and that was good enough from me.
